Institute of Professional Editors

The Society of Editors (Victoria) Inc. is a member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd). The Institute (formerly the Council of Australian Societies of Editors or CASE) is a body of delegates from the Australian societies of editors that coordinates national activities. IPEd was established as an Australian Public Company in 2008 and is in the process of setting up a scheme for granting accreditation to competent editors.

The IPEd website carries news of activities and related documents in areas such as accreditation, standards, and promotion of the editing profession.

IPEd reports regularly through IPEd Notes, which appear on its website and in the newsletters of the societies.

Latest news

First IPEd accreditation exam

The first national IPEd accreditation exam is to be held on 18 October 2008. All exams around Australia will be held concurrently.

The Victorian exam will be held from 2.00 pm to 5.20 pm on Saturday 18 October 2008 at the Senior School Study Centre, Wesley College, St Kilda Road, Prahran.

Don't forget to bring along your candidate reference number, receipt (tax invoice) and photo ID with you.
