Guidelines for editing research theses

IPEd has launched the revised and updated edition of 'The editing of research theses by professional editors'. The guidelines were developed in 2001 by the Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies (DDOGS) and IPEd's predecessor, the Council of Australian Societies of Editors (CASE).

The revision takes account of the changing environment in which many editors, students and their supervisors work. Changes include the reference to electronic editing, a clearer articulation of the editor's role, and the linking of editing functions and responsibilities to the Australian Standards for Editing Practice.

To download the updated standard, visit the Guidelines page on the IPEd website.

2011 accreditation exam

The 2011 IPEd accreditation exam took place on 21 May 2011. Candidates have received their results and the new Accredited Editors, who are members of the society, will receive their certificates at the August dinner meeting.
