Launch of the John Curtain Educational Editorial Fellowship

The new John Curtain Educational Editorial Fellowship was launched during the Editing in Context conference. The fellowship is being sponsored by the Australian Publishers Association and the Graduate Program in Publishing Studies at RMIT University.

Named in memory of the late John Curtain, editor, publisher and teacher, the fellowship consists of fees and financial assistance for the successful applicant to undertake the two-year, part-time Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing program at RMIT University in Melbourne. The successful applicant will have their fees paid - currently $5200 per year - on top of which the APA will contribute $3000 a year and member publishers may offer further assistance, such as mentoring, or work experience.

The fellowship is for a person who would not otherwise be able to afford to undertake the program. Applications from rural, regional and/or indigenous communities are encouraged.

Note that applications for 2006 closed on 15 September 2005 (before the launch at the conference). Information and guidelines are available on the APA website.
