Please note, bookings for this course have now closed.

InDesign is the leading desktop publishing tool being used today. This course offers an interactive, intensive one-day course to understand the basics of InDesign.

This course is created for people who have no experience in using InDesign or any desktop publishing application. It will cover basic graphic design and desktop publishing principles. The aim is for you to finish the day feeling more comfortable with InDesign so you can create your own basic layouts.

  • How to set up a document
  • Working with colour
  • Selection and drawing, type, frames, shapes

Important notes about this course

  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word and using the internet are essential.
  • This is an intensive course for beginners. A more advanced course (called an intermediate course) will run later in the year.
  • InDesign is a desktop publishing program not an editing program. In this course you will be learning the basics of desktop publishing, design and graphics.
  • This course is run on the latest Apple Macintosh platform. The applications for PC and Macintosh platforms are nearly identical, so users of one platform can attend the course on the other platform.
  • We will be creating a single-page document in this course.
  • If you would like to save documents that you create in this course, please bring your own USB stick.
